this rant inspired by a movie.

so, i watched far from heaven today. and it made me think about people today who are so anti gay marriage. and i can't believe it never occured to me before that it's a lot like the way people use to, and how some still discriminate against blacks. so this was my away message today:

discriminating against gays is on par with discriminating against a particular color of skin. how is it different? it's not. to say you have gay friends, but not to support their right to love each other, is pretty hypocritical. just as this country got past it's racial phobias, it will one day get past these stupid homo phobias. if the god people worship really would condemn someone simply for whom they choose to love, then that is not a very loving god. what stops that god from condemning someone for not being the right color? if this is true then god is not the all loving and accepting entity we are led to believe, and in fact, it makes god just as judgemental and hypocritical as his/her followers. that is not the god for me. if that is your idea of religion, you can keep it. i live by the ideology that EVERYONE is equal and deserves the right to live as they see fit, and not make a mockery of them for it.

unfortunately i don't think the other people in this state, or even in this country feel the same way. but maybe one day, eh? someday, hopefully, everyone will truly be seen as equal.
